Information for Current Grantees
When Should Grant Recipients Expect to Receive Their Checks?
If you receive a grant, you can expect to receive the check on or about the beginning date of the grant activity (as specified in your application, and included in the Grant Notification Letter).
Exceptions:
- Applicant information necessary for issuing a check is not consistent with information in the Department of Revenue and Finance's database.
- For activities that begin during the first two months of the DCA's fiscal year (July and August), checks are often delayed 3-6 weeks. Please plan accordingly.
Changes to Funded Projects
Circumstances and conditions change, and funded projects cannot always be completed as proposed (e.g., if the grant request was partially funded). Contact the DCA in advance in writing (or by e-mail) if you need to make a substantial change to the project (e.g., changing dates, using different personnel, differenct project director).
Requests for Extensions
- Requests for extensions must be made in advance and in writing (or by e-mail).
- Extension requests are usually approved only if they occur within the same fiscal year the grant was awarded (July 1 through June 30 of the following year).
- The DCA does not approve requests for extensions into another fiscal year. If the project ends at the end of the DCA's fiscal year (June 30), requests will not be approved to extend the ending date of the project or date the final report is due. Please plan accordingly.
- As per Iowa Code, funds unexpended by the end of the fiscal year the grant was awarded are redistributed to CLP organizations.
Funding Moratorium and Return of Grant Funds.
Grant recipients will be placed on an agency-wide funding moratorium if the Final Report and/or unspent DCA funds have not been returned within 30 days of the ending date of the project. The DCA may also initiate legal proceedings for the return of grant funds if the Final Report and/or unspent IAC funds have not been returned within 30 days of the ending date of the project.
