March 13 2008 Request for Proposals (RFP) Posted on Iowa Great Places website
This document will describe the entire submission proposal and evaluation process, list important deadlines, and describe each proposal component that must be submitted.

March 31 Regional Forum in Storm Lake*

April 2 Regional Forum in West Union*

April 3 Regional Forum in Albia*
*Note: At least one person from each Place planning to submit a proposal in 2008 is required to be in attendance at one regional forum.

April 16 Iowa Great Place Citizen Advisory Board Consultations in Des Moines*
*Note: Great Places Board members will hold mandatory consultations with Places planning to submit a proposal in 2008. Places can pitch their ideas and receive feedback from Board members. The consultations are closed-door; they are not public presentations. PowerPoints or computer use of any kind are not allowed; however, Places are encouraged to bring draft proposals, pictures, etc. that can be easily displayed and shared with Board members.

April 30 Letters of Intent to Submit a Proposal due

May 7 Coaching by State employees for Places submitting proposals begins

August 11 Complete proposals are due to the Great Places Office by 4:00pm

August 26 Finalists are named by the Great Places Citizen Advisory Board

September 22-25 Bus tour of Finalists

September 30 Formal ceremony at the State Capitol recognizing 2008-2009 Great Places
