Photographs

We highly recommend that you include a photograph on your page. They bring attention to your page and personalize your information. Use only the highest quality photograph available to you - an inferior photograph can do more harm than good. Examples include publicity photographs of yourself or your group, cover art for a book or a compact disc, photograph of a work of art, etc. Refer to Photography Tips for more information on what to submit. Depending on available space in the printed directory, we add additional photographs. Be sure to give us photo credit information if you want it included.

When selecting a photograph, ask yourself: How recent is it?, How many times have I used it in other publications? Is it appropriate for this publication? What kind of impact will it have on the audience I want to reach? Does it look like a police "mug" shot? Will it look good reproduced in black and white? Is it in-focus and color accurate?

We can scan in most photographs and slides. 5" x 7" or larger photographs and 4" x 5" color transparencies seem to work the best, but they must be sharply focused and properly lit. Identify the top of the photograph. Do not enlarge fuzzy or out-of-focused photographs or slides to the above size. Color photographs can be included in the Web directory, but will be converted to a black and white format for the  printed directory. Photographs submitted on disk must be IBM formatted and saved as a TIFF  image (do not submit MAC formatted images or discs.) We use QuarkXpress, MS FrontPage and Pagemaker.

I do not want to include a photograph in the directory.
