Iowa Arts Council staff visits Red Oak July 15

“Office on the Road” and grant writing workshop scheduled

(DES MOINES, Iowa) — The Iowa Arts Council will take its “Office on the Road” to Red Oak next month to visit one-on-one with local artists and arts organizations, and to present a grant writing workshop.

IAC staff will hold office hours 9 a.m.-noon and a grant writing workshop 1-4 p.m., Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at the Wilson Performing Arts Center, 300 Commerce Drive in Red Oak.

“We are eager to visit with artists and arts organizations, and hear about the great things happening in this part of the state,” IAC Administrator Mary Sundet Jones said. “Plus, we know constituents want one-on-one time with our staff to talk about applying for grants and participating in programs but cannot visit our office in Des Moines.”

During Office on the Road hours, IAC staff will be available for 20-minute one-on-one sessions. Those interested in meeting with IAC staff should contact Sarah Ekstrand at sarah.ekstrand@iowa.gov or 515-281-4657 to schedule an appointment.

During the grant writing workshop, IAC staff will present information about the IAC grant application process, funding priorities and guidelines, and tips for writing grants. Attendees will also participate in a mock panel review of actual grants submitted to IAC.

The workshop is open to artists, educators, or staff from arts and other community organizations who want to develop new arts projects. Register for the grant writing workshop at www.iowaartscouncil.org.
