Seminars to help cultural organizations capture transfer of wealth

DES MOINES, Iowa—The Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs invites cultural
organizations to attend a series of free day-long seminars on planned giving basics.
Nancy L. Perazelli, CFRE, director of Gift Planning at Drake University will conduct
the seminars in communities across Iowa through July and August. Her sessions
include an overview of philanthropy in 2001, the giving-income pyramid, planned
gift opportunities, major/planned gifts versus annual gifts, benefits of a planned
gift, how to match or double a planned gift, and 13 practical hints for a successful
gift planning program.

ant than ever for our cultural organizations to start building their financial futures. These free seminars will help," said Anita Walker, Director of the Department of Cultural Affairs.
All workshops are from 9 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. Please arrive five to 10 minutes early to confirm your registration. Dates and locations are as follows:

These seminars are part of an effort to achieve the Imagine Iowa 2010: A Cultural Vision to aid Iowa’s cultural organizations in being vigorous, healthy, entrepreneurial and financially sound establishments. Cultural organizations directors, development directors, board members and volunteers are encouraged to attend.
"These seminars will provide valuable information for cultural organizations of all sizes," said Cynthia Nieb, Community Development coordinator. "Whether you are a small county historical society or a large arts institution or museum, you will come away with new tools to make your organization financially strong."
