Youth Art Exhibit Continues This Month at the State Historical Museum
(DES MOINES, Iowa) – The winning entries of a statewide art competition involving Iowa school students remain on display through the end of March at the State Historical Museum as part of Youth Art Month.
The competition, sponsored for the 15th year by Art Educators of Iowa and the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs, gathered works by Iowa students in grades K -12. The winning 100 entries are on display in the State Historical Museum, while a dozen “best of show” entries are on display in the Governor’s office this month.
Artwork is placed in the following Museum areas:
Grades K-5 – in the Heritage Classroom hallway
Grades 6-8 – by the entrance to the “Favorite Things” exhibit,
off the atrium
Grades 9-12 – on the 2nd floor balcony, on the walls outside the exhibit
halls
