DCA to hold Region 2 CHAT meeting Monday in Clear Lake
Cerro Gordo, Emmet, Hancock, Humboldt, Kossuth, Palo Alto, Pocahontas, Winnebago, Worth and Wright counties
For Immediate Release August 14, 2008
(DES MOINES, Iowa) –Cultural leaders, workers and supporters in Cerro Gordo, Emmet, Hancock, Humboldt, Kossuth, Palo Alto, Pocahontas, Winnebago, Worth and Wright counties are invited to a Region 2 CHAT – Culture, History, Arts Team – meeting 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday at the Clear Lake Public Library in Clear Lake.
The Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs created CHAT as a new networking program for the state’s cultural leaders, workers and supporters, and as a reporting tool that will help document their activities and generate more data about the economic impact they have on the state.
“Iowa’s creative economy is growing every year as our cultural workers produce more events and programs that enhance the quality of life for people in our state,” Pederson said. “The potential for job growth in this area is enormous, but we continue to hear from cultural workers and their supporters who say they need help in making sure their concerns and requests are being heard by local and state leaders.”
CHAT is designed to strengthen Iowa’s cultural infrastructure; give Iowa’s cultural workers and their supporters opportunities to exchange ideas and information; document the programs and events they offer; and raise awareness about the economic impact they have on the state.
