Iowa Great Places letters of intent due Wednesday
For Immediate Release April 14, 2009
(DES MOINES, Iowa) – Iowa Great Places letters of intent are due by 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs, 600 E. Locust Street, Des Moines, Iowa 50319. The letters serve as an indication of the Place’s intent to submit a formal proposal to IGP in August 2009.
The letters must include the name of the Place; contact information with the name of primary contact, mailing address, phone, fax, e-mail address; a statement inviting the state of Iowa to partner with the Place and a brief vision statement. An example letter of intent is provided in application materials available on the Iowa Great Places Web site at www.iowagreatplaces.gov.
Iowa Great Places was created in 2005 to promote bold thought, innovation, and entrepreneurship at the local and regional levels in Iowa. The program has created partnerships with 20 Iowa communities to create visions for augmenting their unique attributes and quality of life, and to design roadmaps to turn those visions into reality.
The program asks Iowans to develop proposals that address seven unique and authentic dimensions that make Places special: engaging experiences; rich, diverse populations and cultures; a vital, creative economy; clean and accessible natural and built environments; well-designed infrastructure; a shared attitude of optimism that welcomes new ideas; and based on a diverse and inclusive cultural mosaic.
