happening in Iowa history! Communities are surveying historic
properties, museums are installing new exhibits, researchers
are publishing books, teachers and students are exploring
local cemeteries, family historians are documenting
immigration stories, archivists are preserving photographs .
and the list goes on.
The State Historical
Society recognizes exemplary Iowa projects through its annual
awards program. We need your help in identifying nominees.

The
State Historical Society of Iowa's Annual Awards recognize
individuals, organizations, and communities who have made
outstanding contributions to the study and practice of Iowa
history.

four major awards are:

All award recipients
will be recognized at award ceremonies in the Spring. The
Benjamin F. Shambaugh Award will be presented at the Iowa
History Forum on
April 6th. The Loren Horton Community History Award and the
Petersen/Harlan Award will be presented at Celebrating
Community History on May 13th.
