Moines, Iowa—“Reflections
of Iowa,” the State Historical Building’s Museum Store, set record
revenues for the year ending 2004, including record monthly sales in December.
Unaudited figures for calendar year 2004 show an increase of 14.5 percent over
the previous year. December 2004 revenues were 76.5 percent higher than the previous
December, and a 70 percent increase over the previous best December.
Margi Weiss, CEO of the
Iowa Historical Foundation, which operates the museum store, said an increased
number of visitors to the historical building and a new merchandise mix, news
coverage and expanded advertising drove the record revenues.
“Reflections of Iowa”
is located in the State Historical Building, 600 E. Locust Street in Des Moines.
It offers an eclectic and unique mix of hard-to-find Iowa products, including
books, magazines, out-of-print books, gift baskets, food, toys, crafts, souvenirs,
clothing and other items related to Iowa’s rich history. Store hours are
Monday – Saturday 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday Noon to 4:30 p.m. Visit
