Photocopies
On 8 ½ x 11 paper                                                 25¢ per copy
On 8 ½ x 14 and 11/17 paper                                 50¢ per copy
Shipping handling:
First 1-15 copies                                                    $3.00
Each additional increment of 1-15 copies                $1.00

Digital image files
Digital copy (600 ppi, color, JPEG, uncropped       $20.00 per image
Delivery of image file(s):
Image file(s) e-mailed (limit of 5 images)                 no charge
Image file(s) delivered on CD/DVD (no limit)         $5.00 per disk
Shipping/handling for mailed disks                          $5.00

Use fees (applicable for following uses) - $30.00 per image

• Book or magazine publication with print run/circulation over 1,000
• Web publishing
• Advertising, marketing, fundraising & promotional materials
• Commercial decorative display
• Merchandise (calendars, posters, CDs, DVDs, t-shirts, etc.)
• Film or television production/broadcast (news media exempt)
• Out-of-state exhibits & educational media (apply to all ima ges)
• In-state exhibits & educational media (apply to each image used after first 5)

While use of personal scanners is not allowed in the reading room, researchers may use cameras to photograph materials.  Use fees must still be paid when applicable.

The State Historical Society of Iowa charges a use fee based on its ownership of the physical materials in its collections; this fee represents no claim to copyright any of the materials in question, although the Society may hold copyright to some of those materials. Payment of the use fee does not constitute, and should not be viewed as, permission by a copyright holder to reproduce works that are copyrighted. Users must determine on their own if the use they intend to make of images invades copyright, rights to privacy, or other rights.
